Food and Art Event “Chodo Festival”<\/strong> (Group performance with Ishinomaki’s diverse communities) <\/p>\n\n\n\n Venue: DAIS Ishinomaki (Diversity Art Interactive Studio) <\/p>\n\n\n\n Date and Time: Sunday, August 11 3 P.M. ~ 7 P.M. (Obon dance starts after the end) <\/p>\n\n\n\n Inquiries : chodofes@gmail.com <\/p>\n\n\n\n A compound event event of food and art with the theme of “diversity and coexistence”. This time we will try with flea market, fresh vegetables from the locals, and revival of Bon dance! “Chodo” is derived from the dialect of Ishinomaki city, “Sappari chodo sutenendaon” (= cannot stay still at all). Through the collaboration between citizens who want to do something and artists from Japan and abroad, we will create a time and space where one can experience diversity. Enjoy an experience where you can feel relaxed and connected with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n CHODO = \u201cI cannot sit still at all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n We will explore and reconsider the meaning of art and philosophy as a means of living and coexistence in Mano, Ishinomaki City, a city rich in nature, through a heterogeneous performance woven by diverse participants, regardless of the presence or absence of disabilities, differences in nationality, or genre of art. We hold a multi-purpose outdoor art event every year started in 2022, featuring performances by theater, dance, and music teams active in and around Ishinomaki City, international cuisine prepared by foreigners living in Ishinomaki City, and an exhibition of artworks related to disaster folklore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Chodo,” non familiar Japanese word in the title is in the Ishinomaki dialect which means \u201cI cannot sit still at all.\u201d We can’t help but move even when movement is restricted, and we hope that by using “Chodo-fes-like thinking” to slightly tickle the rigid post-COVID pandemic norms, we will lead to the future of the region and the realization of a circulative society.<\/p>\n<\/div> *”Chodo-fes-like thinking” is a way of thinking that is autonomous, fluid, and enjoyable. It comes from the word \u201cjinen\u201d, which means \u201cthe state of things as they are\u201d. The idea behind the Chodo Festival is to eliminate large-scale stage equipments and create an outdoor stage that borrows from the natural scenery of Mano, equipment that uses recycled materials and bamboo that grows naturally in the area, and viewers will bring the tools they need for viewing and eating to conserve resources.
